Cultivation of the Spirit of the Child (2 Contact Hours)

This interactive workshop is designed to raise awareness of trauma and the effect it has on children in care; assist foster parents with developing intervention skills to use with children residing in their home, and allow for discussion of different approaches to understand the pain children experience when they are separated from their mothers. It also assists participants in building skills to increase case stabilization. Jackie Gadsden is a professor of Social Work at Columbia College, Columbia SC. She has more than 35 years experience in child welfare with most of her work being in direct clinical practice with children and families.
